We love to see our students transform and develop the confidence to pursue their dreams. Not only do we want our students to excel academically, but also take on social responsibility to become a driver of change. Sokuam is one Anjali Alumni who really stands out! When it comes to sharing skills and experiences with his younger peers, Sokuam is always willing to help out! Before continuing his journey in Phnom Penh, Sokuam volunteered as a coach for the Future Leader program. He shared his knowledge on project development. He also helped us on fun activity days, such as the Christmas party. His enthusiasm and energy are contagious, bringing so much joy and light to the classroom. Now he is in the big city, but he will always drop by Anjali and support us however he can!

Meet Sokuam

My name is Sokuam. I am 20 years old. I started studying at Anjali in 2008. In my free time, I like to read books, watch videos, visit temples or relaxing place to cut down stress also to relax my feeling and listen to music. I was able to study in Anjali because of the Anjali staff they went to my home and saw my family situation. Then they asked my mother if she want me and my brothers to study at Anjali or not then my mum said yes.

Anjali Memories

I stayed with Anjali since I was young. Anjali always provided me good teachers to study English. enjoy time with friends together, we got workshops that can teach us new things, meet new people, creating good memories. Then we have photography (in Angkor Photo Festival Workshops) we go to another place, trying something new, we also have poem learning (with Writing Through) and competition we have to challenge each other, to write our best to become a winner but our friendship still remained. There are many more memories! I remember Anjali House well and there are too many to describe!

I have learned many things from Anjali House such as: how to become a good person, to be kind, to be honest, how to share, how to view the world and the situation around me, living values,  English, and speaking and interacting with foreigners. I also learned skills like project preparation, problem-solving, community service, debate and public speaking in addition to leadership, goal setting, critical thinking, and developing future plans.
