Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops
The Angkor Photo Festival is a big event in Siem Reap and it’s free! It began In 2005, organized by a group of photographers. Ten years down the line, the Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops have grown to be the longest-running international photography event in Southeast Asia. Anjali House began life as a project of the Angkor Photo Festival in 2005. We’re very proud to be a part of this event each year.
The weeklong festival offers an international platform and educational resource for emerging photographers. This festival stimulates and promotes young Asian talent. For one week, the city fills with professional workshops, evening projections and exhibitions. Each year, the week before the amazing Angkor Photo Festival, we hold Anjali Photo Workshops. These workshops engage the children of Anjali in intensive and immersive sessions, allowing them to creatively express themselves through photography. The workshop aims to encourage and nurture the children’s innate creativity – an important part of education, and a key tool in fostering scholastic development, self-confidence and social interaction.
The Anjali Photo Workshops are lead and supervised by renowned international photographers. All the fantastic photos that our students have taken during these workshops are showcased on Children’s Day, during the festival. As a result, we have a fantastic backlog of images taken by our students over the past ten years. For more information about the Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops, check out their website.
Don’t forget: all of the events are free and open to the public. So if you’re in Siem Reap during this time, feel free to come along to this fantastic event!
